Early Bronco NP435 4-speed Transmission Swap

The NP435 4-speed manual transmission is a very common swap for 66-77 Ford Broncos. With its granny low gear, the NP435 is an excellent choice for early Bronco rock crawlers. This heavy-duty truck transmission was used in many 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton and 1-ton Ford & Dodge trucks from the 60's to the early 90's, making it relatively inexpensive and an easy transmission to locate. This 4-speed manual transmission is a workhorse. The strength, relatively short size and gearing of the transmission make it a good choice for a variety of situations.

The NP435 was made by New Process Gear from 1962 thru 1997. The preferred version of the NP435 for early Bronco swaps are found primarily in Ford trucks from 1966 to 1992. For swapping into the classic Bronco look for the NP435 transmission to have the small block Ford bell-housing pattern, a square tail housing bolt pattern and a 28-spline output shaft.
