Early Bronco Manual Fuel Tank Selector Valve | 1966–77 Ford Bronco
Keep your classic Bronco’s dual-tank system working right with this manual fuel tank selector valve, a direct replacement for the factory unit found under the driver’s seat on 1966–77 Ford Broncos. Built from durable brass for long life and reliable fuel control, this valve lets you easily switch between the front and rear fuel tanks—just like the original.
Pro Tip: This factory-style valve controls which tank feeds the engine, but it does not control the fuel gauge. The gauge is operated by a separate dash switch, allowing you to check the auxiliary tank’s fuel level without switching the engine’s fuel supply.
-
Direct-Fit Replacement – Installs in the stock location under the driver’s seat for easy access
-
Durable Brass Construction – Resists corrosion and delivers years of reliable service
-
Restores Factory Function – Allows manual selection between front and rear tanks on dual-tank Broncos
-
Compatible with Most Dual-Tank Systems – Works with standard 3-port setups (feed-only)
-
Easy Installation – Connects directly to factory-style fuel lines
Fuel Tank Selector Valve Operation: To select a fuel tank, rotate the lever until the pointer (not the lever itself) indicates the tank you want to use.
-
When the pointer faces the passenger side, the main tank should be selected.
-
When the pointer faces the driver side, the auxiliary tank should be selected.
Keep in mind that if your fuel lines have been replaced or reinstalled, they may not follow the original factory routing. In those cases, the valve position could operate opposite of the factory configuration. It’s a good idea to visually confirm your fuel line routing to ensure the selector valve corresponds to the correct tank.
Note: When you install this fuel selector valve, you will notice that the fuel selector indicator plate is upside down. This is intentional and factory-correct. This setup allows the indicator to be easily read when leaning forward over the front of the seat to view the plate.
Historical Note: Some 1973 Ford Broncos were originally equipped with 6-port fuel selector valves (3 feed, 3 return) to accommodate Ford’s early vapor return systems. This replacement valve can be used in those applications; however, it eliminates the return lines. In most cases, these return systems have been bypassed or removed over the years, making this 3-port valve the most practical modern replacement.
Restore proper fuel tank switching with this brass manual selector valve, built for 66–77 Broncos with dual gas tanks. Mounts under driver seat like original.
