The Dana 44 front end was first introduced on the early Bronco in mid-1971. This front axle was beefier and more reliable than its Dana 30 predecessor. Factory early Bronco Dana 44 front ends came with drum brakes from 1971 to 1975. For 76-77 Ford Bronco models, the Dana 44 got an upgrade to disc brakes.
