Why use an Electronic Flasher when installing LED turn signal & tail light bulbs?

It's common when you install LED bulbs in your early Bronco or other classic vehicle turn signals or tail lights for the bulbs not to work properly at the get-go. This is because LED bulbs draw much less power than traditional bulbs. The Bronco and most vehicles came with a safety provision that would prevent the turn signals and tail lights from flashing if there was not enough draw. This was to prevent a burnt out bulb from wreaking havoc and potentially starting an electrical fire.

Say goodbye to load resistors! For years, the automotive aftermarket community fixed this issue by installing load resistors in the vehicle. Load resistors install in line with the vehicle's turn signal or tail light wiring. They draw extra current by absorbing it into the body of the resistor. The load resistor works like a radiator to dissipate the power by heat induction. This works great, but as you may guess the load resistor can get very hot. This creates a potential safety hazard if the load resistor is not installed in a safe position away from other wires.

A new way to run LED turn signals. This electronic LED flasher offers a new, safer way to ensure your LED turn signals flash as they should. The electronics of this LED flasher account for the low draw of LED bulbs, eliminating the need for load resistors.

Do LED flashers work? Ours does! We tried LED flashers when they first started to gain popularity, and we weren't all that impressed. The issue was that they seemed to work about half the time perfectly and not at all the other half of the time. The issue was that the LED flashers, unlike OEM flashers, require specific polarity to work properly. Because the OEM flashers were not polarity specific, it wasn't a big deal which way the factory wires plugged into the flasher plug. About half the Broncos we tested had the wires reversed, preventing the LED flasher to work properly without swapping the wires.

To fix this problem, our new LED flashers include a polarity reversing adapter. If you plug in our new LED flasher and the turn signals do not work, simply install the polarity adapter between the flasher and the wiring harness plug and your turn signals should be good to go.
