Rear Fuel Tank Skid/Mounting Plate, 1977 Ford Bronco SKU: 9792
Rear Fuel Tank Skid/Mounting Plate, 1977 Ford Bronco
Product Overview:
This heavy duty skid plate is designed specifically for the 1977 Ford Bronco rear fuel tank. Designed to use with the original retaining strap found on 1977 Ford Broncos (not included).
The 1977 Ford Bronco was the last production year of the classic Bronco. It can be easily distinguished by the fuel doors on the driver side quarter panel as opposed to the traditional fuel caps found on other early Broncos. To accommodate these fuel doors, Ford developed different fuel filler necks and a brand new fuel tank design. This new tank was larger than the 66-75 Bronco fuel tanks and was made of poly material as opposed to earlier models' rolled steel tanks. In order to support this new tank in the 77 Bronco, Ford designed this basket style skid plate. The tank lies inside the basket and a mounting strap is secured over the top of the tank to hold it in place. It is then bolted to the underside of the frame to secure it to the Bronco. Our skid plate directly replaces this style of factory skid plate.
