AXLE SHAFTS
Warn 4340 Alloy Axles
To put it simply we have found the Warn front axles to be the best we can buy. They are made in the U.S.A. from 4340 chrome nickel aircraft alloy. Warn axles are machined to accept a full-circle retaining ring which reduces the possibility of a U-joint cap slipping out, which is a leading cause of U-joint failure. We offer individual axles and complete sets. You have your choice of Ford or GM outer axles (use the GM outers if you are using GM style front disc brakes). For these axles we have three options available for Ujoints. We have had zero breakage since installing the combination of Warns and CTMs in the front of the Nightmare Bronco. This combination will give you a level of reliability that was just not obtainable before.NOTE: Results may vary because of individual driving styles. Warn axles are warrantied for the life of the original owner against all manufacture's defects. However, Warn Industries will not warranty damaged axle yokes.
4340 Chromoly Dana 44 Axles
- * Made from 4340 chromoly. Provides up to 50% increased strength over stock axles.
- * Machined for full snap rings. C-clip snap rings are known to come off under high stress.
- * 1.189" O.D. U-joints. Stock Bronco U-joint caps measure 1.063", the chromoly axles use the large O.D. caps for added strength.
Individual axles are avalible also. You have your choice of Ford or GM outer axles (Use the GM outers if you are using GM style front disc brakes).

Item #: 8786 The 4340 forged material alone yields approximately 25% strength increase over OEM joints. The increased trunnion size yields about 72% strength increase, eliminates needle bearings which can disintegrate during extreme use and eliminates needle-bearing lock up. (will not fit stock axle) * The ironically bonded coatings eliminates the need for bearings or bushings and prevents gauling from metal to metal contact. * Each cap & trunnion has its own 300 PSI-pressurized grease reservoir to replenish grease as it is consumed. The pressure keeps out water and debris that are normally sucked into OEM joints during water crossings, deep mud, and pressure washing. Bding able to grease each cap prevents caps from being starved for lubrication. * The unique cross & trunnion periphery allows larger cross section to be installed in small yoke configurations without using a multi-piece cross design. Moving the shear planes out lessens the stress significantly. * We supply a high temperature copper & graphite grease of finely divided soft metals & solid lubricant which prevents metal to metal contact under 200,000 psi loads and will not break down in temperatures up to 2000º F. * Full circle snap rings prevent caps from working our of axle cups. It features super strong alloy that so far no one has been able to break! The rebuildable feature allows for replacing the bushings, seals and snap rings as long as the cross and caps are intact. These joints use full circle clips which means you will need to install them into some high quality Chrome-Moly axle shafts such as our Warns. All four caps use grease zerks which can be accessed using a needle adapter on your grease gun. If you are tired of spending your time changing axles instead of wheeling, then you will want to step up to the next level with the installation of some CTMs. This could be the last U-joint you ever have to buy.
