Can I use these on a flat surface without holes and use double sided tape?

The letter backs have a contour to them, to match the grilles center bar, so they would not sit flat. Also, the letters have 2 mounting posts each. You would have to remove them, and then the letters are hollow. Doesn't sound like what you want or need.
