Does the 164 tooth flywheel require a bell housing from 1981 or later or can I use the original bell housing. Swapping from early 289/3spd to 99' 5.0 and NV3550 and want to reuse the bell housing if possible.

You should be able to use your old bell housing with no issues, as long as it is for a 164 tooth flywheel.
