The Instructions say Hardened Steel Distributor Gear. Can I run this distributor with the hardened steel drive gear on a hydraulic flat tappet cam? If not, where can I find a cast or composite drive gear for this distributor?

You will be fine with the gear that comes on it. As long as you do not have solid roller cam, you are good.
