Most of the original 9" housings in the early Bronco are weak "banjo" type housings. They had a round center section with minimal support for the axle tubes. In some 76's and in the 77's the housing in the Bronco was a little better with a larger, wider center section. This provided added support for the axle tubes. WH offers a superior housing at an affordable price. Our Super 9" housing features:

1/2" T-bolts are available if you are switching from a small bearing housing or don't already have them. Third member studs are also optional. You can use your old ones from your existing housing. The housing comes in bare steel.

Way stronger than my stock banjo housing, and probably marginally stronger than a 76-77 housing due to the 1/4" thick tubes. Mine didn't come notched as described though? Maybe a fluke, or time to change the product description. Notched or not wasn't a deal breaker for me, but it would easily get 5 stars if it only matched the description!
