Yes, the original bezel is needed to mount the Dakota Digital gauge to the dash. If you do not have a bezel, they are available. See our part #'s 6002 or 6003.

I had a 1964 Ford F100 come in for some dash bulb work. I ended up disassembling the dash to clean up the original glass. At that time I installed a new gasket for the cluster glass. Unfortunately the new gasket was thicker than the original one and as I tightened down the dash to the gauge assembly I broke the original glass. The replacement was very nice, it matched in the diameter and installed with ease. The one trick I learned after breaking the original was if you are installing it in the truck to put some blue tape on it to hold the glass up so it locates in the tabs (that is what broke the original glass). Once it was installed you could not tell it was not original. Very nice product.
