Product Overview:

When you lift the rear of your Bronco, your pinion angle changes—and that can lead to annoying driveline vibrations. These 6-degree Tapered Rear Leaf Spring Shims are precision-machined from steel to correct that angle and restore smooth, reliable driveshaft performance. Designed specifically for the 2-1/4" wide rear springs found on 1966–77 Ford Bronco, these shims come with both 3/8" and 7/16" center bolts to fit most stock and aftermarket spring setups, including Wild Horses’ own. Unlike generic cast versions, these hold up under real trail use and torque. Mount them with the thin edge facing forward to dial in the perfect 1–2° downward offset needed for your Bronco’s double-cardan rear driveshaft.

Each set includes both 3/8" and 7/16" center bolts to fit stock, aftermarket, and Wild Horses leaf spring packs. A must-have for reducing driveline vibration after a lift or rear axle change.

  • Custom-Made for Broncos: Precisely machined 2-1/4" wide steel shims—sized specifically for Early Bronco rear springs.

  • 6-Degree Taper Correction: Perfect for restoring proper pinion angle after suspension lifts or rear axle mods.

  • Includes Dual Center Bolts: Comes with both 3/8" and 7/16" bolts for compatibility with most stock and aftermarket spring packs.

  • Built from Solid Steel: Not cast—these hold up to hard use, torque, and extreme off-road conditions.

  • Fixes Driveshaft Vibration: Helps eliminate deceleration vibration from misaligned pinion angles.

  • Installs Easily: Mount above the axle perches with the thin edge pointing forward for proper angle correction.

  • Dial in Double-Cardan Setup: Ideal for Broncos with stock-style rear double-cardan driveshafts—targets the recommended 1–2° pinion angle below driveshaft centerline.

Cut driveshaft vibes with confidence—our 6° steel shims correct pinion angle for lifted Broncos. Includes both 3/8" & 7/16" center bolts for easy fitment.

The product was flawless and appeared to be of good quality. The installation (in my driveway, by myself) was a bit of a workout. The "how to" video was helpful. Took about 3 1/2 hours, but I'm no speed monkey. Biggest challenge for me, (since I really didn't want to disconnect my frame to differential brake hose) was getting the third member low enough to slide the shim in without stretching the brake hose too far. Barely made it by loosening both sides, but only shimming one side at a time. I am pushing 60 years old, so when about the last step is to torque the U-bolts (8 nuts at 100+ foot-pounds), that's where you will feel it the next day. Hoping these shims will increase the life of rear driveline U-joints. Changed my rear U-joint angle from about 12 degrees to about 4.

These are excellent steel shims that are well made. I was dreading the install but with the help of an energy drink, I had these installed in less than 2 hours.

These shims are steel so they can be permanent. I used them on a 2.5 inch lift with a longer transmission, so they helped with by pinion angle.

Product seemed to be great but when I received them but I only received the 3/8" bolts and our leaf springs had a 1/4" hole so getting the holes to accept the 3/8" bolt without having the option for the 7'16" bolts was a nightmare...... I had to use about $50 in drill bits to accomplish the job.

I installed a 2.5 lift on my 70 Bronco and wasn't comfortable with the increase in drive shaft angle. After some measurements I figured the 6 degree shims would work best. The Wild Horses kit was the most complete kit I could find and the most affordable. The install was smooth as could be expected and the instructions were clear as water. I couldn't be happier with the product.

After installing a 2.5" suspension lift, I had a small vibration from the rear driveshaft. I measured the pinion angle and it was too steep so I ordered these. Installation was quick and easy and they got rid of the vibration.

With running a ZF and 3.5 SL, the pinion to driveshaft angle was severe, +9 deg. These 6 deg shims did the trick! Now its 3-4 deg.
