Q: Will this gauge fit in a same-era F-series truck (e.g. '77 F250), in the same place / room as the stock ammeter? If not, do you know anyone who makes such a gauge?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - January 19, 2017

A: This gauge is different. We do not offer the F series style gauges.

I was glad to find a voltage gauge that would work with aftermarket wiring. A little pricy, but needed. Fit perfectly and wired up easily. Only ‘complaint’ is that the red needle is longer than the original gauge, (and all the other original gauges in the dash), which makes it look a little out of place. All in all a good purchase, which I’ll do again when in need another one..!

Decent gauge. And fairly accurate out of the box. I like that it bolts easily into the original ammeter location. Although it is a direct drop-in replacement for the stock ammeter, the font, needle color and needle length do not match the stock gauges. I was able to trim and paint the needle to match better but for the cost it should have came this way. You can also tell on close inspection that the gauge face is just a decal over an off-the-shelf aftermarket volt gauge. Another issue I encountered was lighting. Because this gauge does not have the same shape face as the ammeter it replaces, more light comes across the gauge making it brighter than the rest of the instrument cluster. I was able to build a shade to replicate the shape of the stock gauge and got the lighting closer to what it should be. In the end it is a useful gauge but needed a lot more modifications than I thought it should have for the price. It may not be an issue to some but just realize it isn't a perfect replacement

My new AAW harness wouldn't support the stock ammeter so I found this voltmeter that fits in the stock cluster.

I got this since I upgraded to 3G alternator so the ampmeter would no longer function. I had to request a replacement as the first one shipped had needle paint stuck on the gauge face - it happens. WH sent me the replacement quickly along with a return label with no hassles. The second one looks great and was very easy to install. I would give this five stars if it were a perfect match with the other gauges. The needle is more red than the OEM orange and longer than the OEM needles, and the font looks a little different. However, very nice to be able to have this part available as a plug and play option.

Fits perfect and exactly as advertised. Now to complete my wiring project so I can see if it works, which I'm sure it will.

Volt gage fit in stock cluster. The pointer is jittery, but this may be in my charging system. Overall it fits and does the job.

This volt meter is way better than the stock junk meter but for the price I would have expected the gauge needle to be the same length as the other gauges in the cluster. Talk about no attention to detail.

This voltage gauge replacement is a direct fit to the original Bronco gauge cluster when replacing the alternator gauge. The unit works well and is accurate when compared to a multimeter. Be sure you are aware of the wiring configuration (stock wiring diagrams are available on-line) and how you need to maintain continuity after removal of the alternator gauge. Be sure to insulate any open or exposed connections to prevent shorts or grounds. You will need to run a voltage source to the new voltage meter from a switched source, and provide a ground connection as well. Be cautious of connecting to a switched source that is shared with a heavy load, heater fan for example, as it will result in a voltage drop and register accordingly on the meter, while the voltage level at the battery is normal. My application was necessary as a result of upgrading to 140 amp alternator which was too hot for the 60 amp alternator gauge.

The volt meter arrived in great condition. It looks and fits like a factory part. It seems to read a little low compared to my digital voltmeter but overall I am very happy with this part.
