Power Steering Pump, 351M/400M, 78-79 Ford Bronco, 77-79 Ford F150 4x4
Product Overview:
Finally a simple bolt-on Saginaw power steering pump kit for your full size Ford 351M/400. This new kit includes everything you need with the exception of the belt due to variation in pulley sizes found on the stock motors. As pictured we include a new (not rebuilt) Saginaw/Delphi steering pump, power steering pressure hose, pump pulley, pump bracket, pump bracket brace, adjustment link and hardware. This kit works with or without A/C. Brand new Heavy Duty Delphi pump Do you really want to settle for a twenty-five year old rebuilt Saginaw pump? We hate defects. You hate defects. So, why buy used stuff when you can have new? Our heavy duty Delphi pumps put out more pressure and pump more GPM (gallons per minute) than the factory units and they have a large reservoir for added fluid capacity.
We use plated reservoirs as a standard feature. Not only do they look better but the plating adds superior corrosion resistance.
We sold rebuilt pumps for many years. We pulled our hair out trying to find a good source for rebuilt pumps. We used practically everyone in the business. No matter where we went, it was always the same - about one in ten didn't work right. With the volume of time and money spent on returns, this was unacceptable. Defects, even when handled correctly, do not reflect well for our customer service standards. For a long time, rebuilts were our only option. A few years ago, we received the opportunity to provide brand new pumps. We jumped on board wholeheartedly and have not looked back since. The pumps you see here are built exclusively for WILD HORSES. We are convinced you will not find better anywhere in the market place.
All of WH's Delphi pumps use a .750 shaft with a press fit pulley. For the best possible performance, WILD HORSES recommends using power steering fluid in all of our steering components.
This kit is designed for use on 78-79 Broncos and 77-79 F-150 4x4 with 351M/400M with or without A/C.

Asked by Chad, November 7, 2023
Q: Hello what is the pressure fitting size and type on the back of the pump? I swapped a 2004 f350 axle and steering box into my 1979 f250 with a 400m. I am running a mid 90's ford stock pump that is the same size and type as the 79 but has metric fittings. If it is the standard fitting do you have an adapter available?
Answered by ☆ sales - November 13, 2023
A: The pump takes a 5/8 -18 tpi, inverted flare fitting. We have a few fittings like # F2964 and F2463. If you need something different, then you may need to find one yourself.

Q: Will this kit work for a 81 F150 351m stock?
Answered by ☆ sales - April 21, 2021
A: It would be our closest option, but may only give you a better place to start. Also, it may bolt right on, but is not specifically designed for your year. Best bet, compare your motor to the installation pics, to try to confirm as much as possible. Other than that, you could try.

Asked by John, March 27, 2014
Q: I just bought a 1978 Ford Bronco. While driving it home the power steering went out completely. Looking on fullsizebronco.com this site came up a couple times.
This kit I will be able to pull my current PS pump and bolt this right on? Are there any other parts I need to get this going? This looks like it has the reservoir on it. Sorry if this is a dumb questions. Just getting into rebuilding and restoring.
Answered by ☆ sales - March 27, 2014
A: Provided the 78 is stock this kit will work. It has everything but the belt and some power steering fluid. You may want to read through the installation instructions just to get more familiar with the product. It's pretty straight forward and easy install.
