Early Bronco Turn Signal Switch Replacement

Replace your 66-73 Ford Bronco turn signal switch with our OE-quality replacement. This turn signal switch works for all 66-73 Ford Broncos with factory steering column (manual transmission and automatic transmission). The turn signal switch has wiring not only for the front and rear turn signals, but it also has wiring for the horn, emergency flasher and the stop light switch. So if you are having trouble with any of these components, a new turn signal switch in your early Bronco may be the answer.

How to replace the early Bronco turn signal switch
Many early Bronco owners are too intimidated to replace the turn signal switch. There's no shame in taking the Bronco to a certified shop to have your new turn signal switch installed, but if you want to do it yourself we have some guidance to help you out. Once you understand the process, it's really not all that intimidating of a job.

The first key to replacing your 66-73 Ford Bronco turn signal switch is to ensure you know where all the wires go when you plug the new one in. Our 66-73 Bronco turn signal switches should match the wire colors on your stock harness if you have a 66-70 Ford Bronco. Wire colors on 71-73 Broncos may vary from your existing switch. Prior to removing your old turn signal switch, make note of the pattern in which they are wired to the body harness. Just compare the wire locations of your new turn signal switch with your old switch and you will know which colors have changed. This handy wiring chart may be helpful for wiring your new 66-73 Bronco turn signal switch.

Instructional Video: How to Remove the Turn Signal Switch from an Early Bronco

This video is a great resource as Jim Creel from Wild Horses 4x4 shows you how to remove the turn signal switch from your factory early Bronco steering column. The column in this video is a 1976 Ford Bronco column, but the steps are basically the same.

Instructional Video: How to Install a New Early Bronco Turn Signal Switch

Part two of Jim Creel's shift collar repair video shows you how to reinstall your turn signal switch in the early Bronco. Again, this is a 76 Bronco, but the steps are very similar.

Asked by andy, November 13, 2023

Q: I have a 1973 stock bronco when I use turn signals they do not automatically turn off after I turn but stay on until I flip them back off. Will this signal switch solve that problem?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - November 13, 2023

A: Yes it should fix your problem. The replacement switch comes with a new cancelling cam, which is a common failure point.

Asked by Mikel C, March 8, 2022

Q: Does this replace the turn signal cancelling setup as well? I have to replace my turn signal switch and also want to make sure I fix my turn signal cancelling while I'm at it. It will cancel in one direction but not the other. Please point me in the direction of whatever else I might need to replace while I'm in there to fix it.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - March 8, 2022

A: This is it! The complete assembly replaces the switch, signal and horn wiring, and cancelling assembly.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - April 14, 2020

Asked by Felicia, July 23, 2019

Q: Does this turn signal switch fit a tilt wheel or non tilt wheel?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - July 24, 2019

A: This is a replacement signal switch for the stock 66-73 non-tilt column.

Asked by AJ, April 22, 2019

Q: Will this work on a '76? If not, do you have a different harness for that year?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - April 23, 2019

A: No, that would not work. We have the 74-77 style as well. Part #2897 for an automatic column, and #2884 for a manual shift column.

I have been purchasing from Wild Horses for 16 years and continue to return because of their knowledgeable staff, wide selection, quality, and as in my recent purchase, their prices. I recently purchased a turn signal switch for my 67' and found their price was not only lower, but was lower than other listed prices when I had added shipping costs. My package also arrived in a very prompt manner. Keep up the good work!

New replacement was equivalent of orignial. Installed easily after fishing wires through column. Also replaces horn contacts.
