Custom Collapsible Lower Steering Shaft, 66-79 Bronco
Item #: 2161NET

California Residents: Proposition 65 Warning

Description

We build each of these steering shafts to order. Each custom shaft has two billet universal joints, one at each end. Our shafts are zinc plated for good looks and corrosion resistance. The special double D shaft is collapsible and expandable. We machine a lube and spring reservoir into the shaft to provide lifetime lubrication. A dampening spring is added to provide tension between the tube and shaft just like the factory 76-77 collapsible shafts. All shafts come with a rubber dust boot to help keep out contaminants.

WH has solved countless steering issues and we build in excess of 50 different lower shafts for all the different combinations that have come our way. These shafts are an excellent way to solve steering shaft angle problems that can result from body lift installations.

For manual steering equipped Broncos (66-75) grinding your existing upper shaft will be necessary for installation.

For 73-77 Broncos with a two-piece steering shaft, this will completely replace the lower shaft and it is basically a bolt-in installation.

To order a Custom Lower Steering Shaft, we will need to know the type of steering column and the type of steering box on your Bronco. If you have any questions, talk to someone on our sales team and they will walk you through a series of questions designed to get you exactly what you need.

Instructions excellent Install was quick and easy- I'm a shade tree mechanic so says a lot for the product Only complaint is had to make a double D out of the old shaft to fit the coupling on the new shaft, but after practicing on piece of old shaft it worked out good. Thank you for a great product My Bronco already drives far and away better than with the old unit I had

With a power steering kit and the WH 1" body lift on my 76 Bronco the stock shaft was too short, WH staff custom built me one and it looks and works great, super fast, I received it across country in 4 days.

I bought this to use on a 72 Ford pickup mounted on a 95 F350 powerstroke chassis. This was extremely well made and mounded great between the 72 steering column and 95 steering box. This has been a daily driver for 6 months now and the steering shaft hasn't had any issues. I recommend this to anyone doing a chassis swap on an old Ford pickup or Bronco.

Purchased lower shaft to replace worn out loose original. Wild Horses sales staff was extremely helpful in identifying the steering gear I had (PO made numerous modifications) and shipping the correct replacement shaft. Bolted right in with zero issues. Looks great and more importantly, tightened up my steering.

We all know that the term "bolt-on" for any early bronco part is the equivalent of finding a unicorn in your back yard, however, this actually was. Very nice part and very easy to install, probably took me all of 15 minutes! Looks very nice also.

This is a high quality piece that is a terrific improvement over the stock rag joint shaft. Very easy install once you have the old lower shaft removed (which can be a bear).

Craftsmanship & good looks....that is what you get at Wildhorses. The lower steering shaft I received for my '73 is a work of art, and obviously tough!
