Product Overview:

Modern aluminum radiators are great for cooling your classic Bronco—but they're also more vulnerable to internal corrosion caused by electrolysis. This Brass Drain Plug with Sacrificial Zinc Anode is designed to stop that problem at the source. As different metals interact in your cooling system—especially when combined with electrical grounding issues—electrolysis occurs, eating away at the aluminum from the inside. This plug solves that by using a zinc anode, a “sacrificial” metal that corrodes instead of your radiator. It threads into the drain port like a standard plug but adds serious long-term protection to your cooling system. If you're running an aluminum radiator in your Bronco or other classic rig, this is one small upgrade that can prevent some big problems.

Brass Drain Plug w/ Sacrificial Zinc Anode for Aluminum Radiators

Protect your investment and extend the life of your aluminum radiator with this Brass Drain Plug featuring a built-in Zinc Anode. Fits most aluminum radiators, this plug doesn’t just seal—it safeguards. The sacrificial zinc anode draws harmful electrical current caused by electrolysis away from your radiator’s soft aluminum core, preventing internal corrosion and failure over time. A smart, affordable upgrade for Early Broncos and other classic vehicles running aftermarket aluminum radiators.

  • Prevents Electrolysis Damage: Sacrificial zinc anode protects aluminum radiators from internal corrosion.

  • Brass Plug with Zinc Core: Durable brass construction with replaceable zinc insert.

  • Designed for Aluminum Radiators: Ideal for classic Broncos and other vintage vehicles using modern aluminum cooling systems.

  • Direct Fit & Easy Install: Threads into standard radiator drain ports with no modification required.

  • Long-Term Protection: Helps extend radiator life by neutralizing stray electrical current.

  • Smart Upgrade: Especially useful for vehicles with mixed-metal cooling systems or questionable grounds.

Stop electrolysis before it ruins your radiator—this brass drain plug with zinc anode protects your aluminum core from hidden corrosion. Easy, affordable insurance.

What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis in automotive cooling systems occurs when electrical current—often from poor grounds or mixed-metal components—passes through the coolant. This current seeks the path of least resistance and ends up attacking the soft aluminum surfaces inside your radiator or engine, slowly eroding the metal from within.

How does a zinc anode help?
Zinc is a more reactive metal than aluminum. When placed in contact with coolant and aluminum, it will corrode first, "sacrificing" itself to protect the aluminum parts. This principle is used in marine and industrial systems—and now you can apply it to your Bronco’s cooling system for added peace of mind.

Good fit. I like this one more than the one in the radiator cap. Both would work fine I just like this one in the drain plug location.
