Product Overview:

We have found with today's softer rear springs the 360/80 valving of these 7100s works great in the rear of Jeeps, Broncos, Land Cruisers etc. You have to provide the mounting solution but this is the shock to go with. This is the short body Bilstien allowing the shortest mounting distance for a 10" travel shock.

NOTE: These DO NOT fit stock Bronco shock mounts! These shocks are intended for customizers and fabricators.

The versatile 7100 Series shocks are designed for stock truck and limited buggy race applications as well as prerunner trucks, off-road and sandbuggies and other recreational vehicles. Completely owner rebuildable. Heat is one of the major detriments to the performance and longevity of any shock absorber. Conventional twin tube designed shocks trap the heat within the shock body and do not let it adequately dissipate, making them prone to heat build-up, fade and eventual failure. By contrast, BILSTEIN's technically superior, monotube high gas pressure charged design allows the excessive heat from the oil to transfer to the outer surface of the shock body and dissipate more efficiently. The dividing piston also permits the oil to expand as heat builds, preventing aeration (foaming) and viscosity loss. This allows the shock to maintain full damping characteristics as temperatures rise. The remote reservoir creates added capacity for more oil adding to the effectiveness of the monotube design. We can put together complete suspension kits with 7100s. Please call if you would like more info about kits using these shocks and let us know what you would like we would be happy to put something custom together for you.

Asked by Domenic Scaife, November 11, 2023

Q: Looking at these shocks for my 1974. What are the dimensions of the mounting eyelets? It states that factory mounts will not work. I currently have wild horses long travel front hoops and rear hoops with Cage arms on the front axle and no existing lower rear mounts currently. Just trying to figure out what I need to make these work? Or am I better to go with the 5165? Any suggestions?

A: These take 1/2 bolts, top and bottom. Should be good with your setup. If you do need something larger, than the bushing style ends would be better.

Adding Bilstein 7100 reservoir shocks to my Bronco has been among the best improvements that I've made in the 16 years that I've owned it. I went through a few different iterations of shocks trying to improve the handling but was never actually satisfied with the results. These shocks are amazing; the 360/80 valving truly controls the spring rebound which improves every aspect of handling and ride quality. Body roll is significantly reduced, cornering is far more stable, and taking bumps at speed no longer results in the "bounce" that I'd gotten used to. I cannot believe the difference that these have made. Also, as is usual, Wild Horses shipped them out almost immediately so I had them the day after I ordered them. Thanks WH!
