Painless 28-Circuit Direct Fit 1966-77 Bronco Harness with switches
The result of nearly two years of painstaking engineering, this harness is the most comprehensive, best designed system available anywhere. Designed with input from Bronco owners everywhere, this harness sets a new standard. Not just an update of the existing Bronco harness, this is a completely new harness from top to bottom. It includes a molded plastic glove box to replace the factory cardboard one. The new glove box contains a cutout which allows the 20- circuit covered weatherproof fuse block to be installed in the factory location. An additional 8-circuit covered weatherproof auxiliary fuse block is located under the dash near the 20-circuit fuse block location.

Other features include factory-style molded exterior light connectors, Ford turn signal connectors, Ford dimmer switch connector, and 80+ page instruction manual. This new harness follows the factory routing so installation is a breeze on any 1966-1977 Bronco. It includes the following new switches: wiper, ignition, and headlight.

Like all Painless harnesses, these come with the highest quality XL wire, factory machine crimps and the terminals and connectors you'll need for a successful installation. The straightforward design, printed wire and detailed instructions make that installation a breeze.

Please consider upgrading the headlight harness. The Bronco light switch can barely handle the current needed to run stock headlights. Many have had the flickering Bronco headlight syndrome. The stock headlight switch definitely can't handle the current needed to run modern H4 bulbs. The way the Bronco is wired, the power runs from the battery into the dash, branches off a few times, then into the headlight switch. The headlights are then drawing power from this switch. What that means is after all the voltage drops, you end up with lower voltage at the headlights. The Night Lighter harness uses a relay system to put direct battery voltage (often 14.4 volts) directly to your headlights creating a brighter light.

Plug the harness in and the old light switch activates the new harness and the load bearing relays to bring power from the battery directly to the headlights. WH recommends adding the Night Lighter to any stock or after market wiring harness.

Truly Painless

Electrical is always my least favorite part of wrenching on Bronco's and cars in general. This kit from painless is awesome. If you can read a little and put together Lego's you can install this kit. I will say that taking out the dash, and the alternator are a must. That makes the install much easier and you'll end up with a better finished product because of it. Much easier to work on that way. If you do have a question Painless' customer service is AWESOME. They'll call you back ASAP if you leave a message after hours and their techs are totally knowledgeable about all their products. The parts are well made, organized, and labeled well. Take your time. Think it through and you'll be satisfied. What a relief to be done with 52 year old wiring...

So this kit is amazing and very much worth the extra $ - It's unbelievable how much work the team put into this making the easiest plug and play. I have the body off the frame so engine portion isn't connected yet but the 3 clusters are already tied in to where I want them to be. With except to the engine compartment connected, everything else took 4.5 hours - my father was in town which is why I purchased this when I did but didn't need his help but he loves doing this kind of stuff. I'm building 2 broncos for my sons when they turn 16 and will be purchasing another Painless kit as sooon as I at that point. Thanks WH4X4 for the ease of purchase and being available for any questions.

I am in the process of installing this harness and have the engine left to do. I'm electrically challenged and this is perfect for me. From the instruction manual to the glove box to the connectors to the wires themselves (labeled every 6" with number and purpose) this kit is awesome! Highly recommended.

Date: Thursday, 7th January 2010 Well, Painless Wiring has outdone them selves with this one. This has been one of the nicest wiring systems I have even put in a Bronco. This kit comes, in my opinion, with about 97% of the most detailed info you can get and with every possible connection/hardware you need. There were a couple of "gray" areas that could have been better detailed that kept me guessing a bit for example the ORIGINAL ignition switch wiring and the steering column splicing details. By trial and error, I got through this and it was all good in the end. When installing this kit guys, TAKE YOUR TIME, dont be in a rush like we all tend to be in. This kit is a step by step process. Be sure to read the booklet ALL the way through page by page with your kit laid out on the floor in front of you while you are reading. It will help you understand it better so you dont make any mistakes or skip any of the steps along the way. If you can read, and know what your colors are, this kit is easy to install. Have fun!!

This kit is AWESOME and has everything you need for a complete rewire. Now for the first time since I've owned my Bronco, everything works. I would highly recommend getting the loom kit also. It's pricey, but worth the extra money. Take your time and do it right and you will not be disappointed.
