Description

The force and stress placed on stock components by off-roading is enormous. We noticed that we were bending the stock U-bolt plates. So, we set out to build some that could take abuse. We also noticed the stock 1/2" U-bolts were pretty weak so we increased them to 5/8". It may seem kind of simple to take a piece of thick metal and drill some holes. We have seen these types of plates. The problem is the edge of a plate like this causes a ridged pressure point and can cause the spring to break at that point. We invested in tooling that routers the edge of our plates. In doing so, we are able to keep a stock type edge which compliments the spring when it's articulating. Most aftermarket u-bolt plates are 3/8" thick. We think that's way to wimpy for most wheelers today. Our Extreme Duty plates are 5/8" thick steel zinc plated for looks and corrosion protection. The 5/8"x 3 1/4" x 8 3/4" u-bolts are also zinc plated for looks and corrosion protection. Before you buy an inferior set of plates and u-bolts take the time to add up the cost because the inconvenience of poor quality will long out live the thrill of a bargain.
These are a must have for trail runners and rock crawlers. Keep your rear axle and springs mounted solid!

Used these for a 9" install in a 1965 Econoline, replacing the old 7.5 "peanut" rear end. The sheer weight over stock gives a clear indication how much stronger they are. Each U-bolt is as large as the nuts on the old ones. The top plate is a massive solid chunk. Wild Horses sent me the wrong washers, but then THEY CALLED ME to tell me they were sending the right ones. That phone call, by itself, seems to be a dying art and much appreciated in today's world of phone trees and robocalls for most other companies' "Customer Service."

I broke two center pins and found the U-bolt threads literally stripped so bad the nuts had worked there way loose and I lost the bottle leaf and a wedge on the trail due to this. With this Extreme duty kit I have zero fear of that ever happening again, Wedges and leaves are now held solidly in place. Cant wait to get to moab now.

These things are fantastic. They make the originals look like a joke. They also work with the new leaf springs where the old plates need to be drilled out to accept the larger pin on the top. Great product.

These things are very heavy duty. Just make sure to follow the instructions and retorque the nuts after the first few times you drive the bronco.

I've used a few sets of u-bolts and plates over the years, these are by far the heaviest set I've put on a Bronco personally. Great fit and well worth the price, I will buy again when I do the next Bronco up. Thanks WH

I was swapping my old original 9" with a newer one, and the housing was 3 1/4" which is bigger than the original. So I called Wild Horses, and they had what I needed! Got it shipped quickly and slapped them on, and couldn't have been a better fit. These are the real deal!

I ordered these u bolts and retaining plates because mine were weak and also an eye sore. These appear to be very strong and also are a nice finishing touch for someone that appreciates their Bronco.

High quality was my first thought but when I pulled them out of the box and felt the weight, I thought now these are beefy!! I don't think there is better set made.

Extreme indeed!

Wow, these things are stout! Very easy to install (other than removing the old ones). This stopped a lot of the creaking from the old springs and even seems to reduce axle wrap. They are definitely the strongest link in my rear suspension now.

I purchased the kit for the plates. Great design & well worth the money. I used them with another brand of leaf springs without a problem.
