Description

Heavy Duty Early Bronco Steering Linkage Upgrade

Rein in your steering with our new Clydesdale early Bronco steering linkage kit. This system features a beefy upgraded tie rod and drag link for your 66-77 Ford Bronco. The Clydesdale steering linkage system is unlike any you have seen before.

The first thing you will notice when inspecting the Clydesdale early Bronco tie rod & drag link set are the 1 5/8" 4130 DOM stress relieved chromoly center links. These links are connected to massive 1 1/4" threaded forged end links that make the factory tie rods look like noodles in comparison. The center links have wrench flats machined into them and use jam nuts for easy adjustment. Because of the size of these new end links, be sure to check your current clearance from the center point of your knuckle where the stud goes into the inside edge of your wheel. You will need 1 1/2" of clearance to be safe.

Next we added thread-in, quick-change cartridges to the end links. The cartridge design allows for greatly increased stud swing, more than enough for even the most demanding off-road situations. The cartridge features oversized ends with grease slots below the taper. We have different cartridges with different tapers available for various knuckles and pitman arms. Our tie rod cartridges include the "Rock Lock" urethane disc designed to control rotational movement of the tie rod which is a common problem with stock and other aftermarket early Bronco tie rods. It also acts as the seal for the cartridge keeping mud and debris out.

You will never need to replace the whole tie rod again. If the cartridge ever wears out, you can swap in a new one without even needing to get an alignment. This is also a great feature if you decide to change to different steering knuckles or go to a tie rod over knuckle system. All you need to replace is the cartridge to make it compatible with the new knuckles. The same thing applies to the pitman arm cartridge. If there was ever a need to switch pitman arms to a different size taper, again you would only need to change the cartridge.

All of the forgings and center links on our Clydesdale early Bronco steering linkage kits are powder coated black for great looks and corrosion resistance.

Just watched your video on the installation of the heavy duty drag link. That is my truck you used in the video and I am the original owner since 1977. The link works better than the factory link ever did. Highly recommend it. Thanks for using my truck as the guinea pig.

I have used this set on three different trucks now, it not only looks badass but helps stabilize the steering, in each truck they had wobble caused by weaker parts, most of them were new OEM style. Installed these and they tightened up the steering that last little bit still remaining from other stock parts. Feels great also gives great confidence in steering. Will use on every Bronco I build.
