You can find the tag on the right side of the transmission near the front where it bolts to the bellhousing. You should see the letters (rat, ran or hef)

NP 435 Rebuilt Transmission with Adapter | |

Item #: 8300 NP 435 Rebuilt with Adapter. This is the transmission of choice for many rock crawlers. With its extremely low first gear (6.69-1) you can creep over rocks easily. The new process 435 transmission comes in many different applications. Some can be adapted by changing input and output shafts. If you want to save time and money, use one from a 67-83 Ford truck F100-350 small block with a 28 spline output shaft and the square tail housing bolt pattern. We have also found them bolted up to 360 and 390 engines. If you find one in a four wheel drive, it's best to use the ones that are bolted directly to the transfer case. They usually have the correct output shaft. We have complete ready-to-install 435's with adapters, and we also sell the adapters separately. These transmissions weigh about 120 lbs.. That's only 40 lbs. more than your 3 speed, so weight is not an issue. Our NP 435s come with the shifter. Other Shopping Features |

Item #: 8540NET Many customers have asked us for a matching set of shift knobs. So here they are. These are easy to read, truck-style shift knobs. Just under 2" in diameter with bold white lettering that is domed so that the pattern will not rub off like painted ones do. We have 4 thread sizes for you to choose from 3/8"NF, 3/8"NC, 7/16"NC and 1/2"NC. You have 8 shift patterns to choose from including twin stick patterns and a crawler knob. These knobs come with most WH products where shifter knobs are used. Our new shift knobs will be a good looking touch for your interior. Please specify the thread size and shift pattern desired.
